Defining Bi-Curiosity and More About the Sexuality Spectrum
bi-curious - Wiktionary
Top definition. Though Anne was attracted to men, she had a slight attraction to women too, leading her to become bi curious. One who, although untried as of yet, finds themselves curiously attracted to members of the same sex for the purpose of sexual pleasure and experimentation. There is never a right or wrong time to question our sexuality. There are many terms floating around, especially today when more parts of the sexuality spectrum are seeing positive representation in media. The phrase "bi-curious" refers to people who are interested in having a same-gender sexual experience without necessarily labeling their sexual orientation as bisexual. Someone who is completely straight is a zero; a six would be considered completely homosexual. It is entirely possible to feel like you are a one predominantly heterosexual, only incidentally homosexual or a five predominantly homosexual, only incidentally heterosexual or anywhere in between.
Bi-curious is a phenomenon in which people of a heterosexual or homosexual sexual orientation have some curiosity for sexual activity with a person of the sex they do not favor, and they wish to distinguish themselves from the bisexual label. The term is sometimes used to describe a broad continuum of sexual orientation between heterosexuality and bisexuality. The term bi-curious implies that the individual has either no or limited homosexual experience in the case of heterosexual individuals, or no or limited heterosexual experience in the case of homosexual individuals, but they may continue to self-identify as bi-curious if they do not feel they have adequately explored these feelings, or if they do not wish to identify as bisexual.
